[Remote] Payroll Accountant

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Intuitive Safety Solutions (ISS) is a rapidly growing Environmental, Health & Safety consulting and staffing organization. They are seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant to manage and improve their payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for employees and consultants across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for employees and consultants using ADP Workforce Now and DataBasics
• Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, per diem, expense reimbursements, and benefit deductions accurately and on time
• Audit payroll prior to transmission and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain payroll records and payroll calendars
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Coordinate payroll tax reporting through ADP
• Administer garnishments, child support, unemployment claims, and payroll deductions
• Maintain knowledge of changing payroll legislation
• Prepare payroll journal entries
• Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and liabilities
• Support month-end, year-end, and audit activities
• Prepare payroll reports and labor cost analyses
• Support budgeting, forecasting, workforce analytics, and management reporting
• Partner with Operations, Delivery, Recruiting, Sales, Human Resources, and Finance to ensure accurate employee compensation
• Verify consultant pay rates, bill rates, overtime, assignment details, and expense reimbursements
• Provide responsive payroll support to employees and consultants
• Audit payroll processes and internal controls
• Participate in ADP and DataBasics upgrades and testing
• Recommend automation and process improvements that improve efficiency and scalability

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of progressive payroll accounting experience
• 3+ years administering multi-state payroll using ADP Workforce Now
• Strong knowledge of payroll accounting, payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, multi-state payroll compliance, and general ledger reconciliations
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, and reporting)
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
• Experience with DataBasics or similar
• Multi-entity payroll experience
• Knowledge of prevailing wage or certified payroll is a plus
