[Remote] Part-Time Social Media Editor, The California Post
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. New York Post is seeking a Part-Time Social Media Editor to join their newsroom team at the California Post. The ideal candidate will be skilled in video editing and adept at producing engaging content that connects with a broad audience across various social media platforms.
Responsibilities
- Package and publish content for California Post social media accounts across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Threads, and more
- Create short-form vertical videos, memes, graphics, and other engagement-focused posts
- Film, edit, and produce video content from live events, interviews, and in-house programming for social distribution, ensuring alignment with platform-specific best practices
- Pitch and execute timely, newsworthy, and trending content ideas
- Engage with audiences across California Post social channels, including moderating comments and facilitating meaningful interactions
Skills
- At least three years of professional experience managing social media for a news organization
- Proven experience in multimedia content creation and social publishing across digital platforms
- Proficiency in video and photo editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and Canva, supported by a strong creative portfolio
- Strong editorial judgment with excellent writing and copy-editing skills
- Current knowledge of social media trends, best practices, and emerging platforms, with the agility to adapt strategies to drive engagement
- Hands-on experience managing large social media accounts with measurable success in audience growth and engagement
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom, with strong multitasking and prioritization skills under tight deadlines
- A passion for news, culture, and storytelling, with the creativity to translate those interests into compelling social content
