[Remote] OpenShift Platform Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CRB Workforce is currently looking for an OpenShift Platform Engineer. The role involves driving large-scale platform migration efforts and ensuring the stability and performance of Kubernetes and OpenShift clusters.
Responsibilities
- Drive and carry out large-scale platform migration efforts across a broad cluster fleet, leveraging both in-service and blue/green upgrade approaches while minimizing impact to running services
- Plan, validate, and perform Kubernetes and OpenShift cluster upgrades, ensuring all platform components and add-on services remain on vendor-supported releases throughout the process
- Build and maintain automation scripts and workflows for repeatable, safe upgrade execution across multiple environments
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving platform infrastructure, networking (including SDN and NFS), storage subsystems, and ancillary services
- Create and maintain thorough documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures for all migration and operational activities
- Partner with cross-functional operations, deployment, and engineering teams, communicating effectively with both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders
Skills
- At least 6 years of direct, hands-on experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or enterprise-grade Linux platform engineering, including cluster lifecycle operations such as upgrades, scaling, and blue/green migration strategies
- Solid background in Linux system administration along with a working understanding of the Kubernetes API Server, NFS, and foundational networking concepts
- Demonstrated ability to build automation for operational and upgrade processes using tools such as Bash, Ansible, and Python
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based source control platforms such as GitLab and GitHub
- Proven track record of production operations in highly available environments, including troubleshooting control plane components, worker nodes, networking, and storage
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
