[Remote] Mortgage Accountant Specialist
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Suna Solutions is seeking a Treasury Specialist to support Construction Accounting and Treasury operations. This role is responsible for loan funding activities, account reconciliations, reporting, journal entries, wire processing, and various treasury-related functions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare initial close workbooks and imports for construction loans funded through Encompass
- Fund loans through warehouse lines and update Encompass accordingly
- Collaborate with Construction and other internal departments regarding payoffs, draws, modifications, and other requests
- Prepare margin call reports for quarterly NMLS reporting
- Generate monthly borrower billing statements for Construction and Builder loans
- Reconcile reverse mortgage loan advances
- Prepare reverse mortgage loan entries, including securitization journal entries
- Review and verify batch-processed wire activity for accuracy and proper recording
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and multiple account reconciliations
- Research and resolve reconciliation discrepancies on a monthly basis
- Prepare and post journal entries to the General Ledger through LoanVision
- Process corporate check deposits and maintain accurate records
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance team efficiency
- Cross-train in Treasury functions and provide backup support as needed
- Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting, finance, or treasury-related experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, reconciliations, balance sheets, and income statements
- General knowledge of mortgage processes, regulations, and wire transfer procedures
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas and VLOOKUP function
- Mortgage banking experience, particularly in construction accounting
- Experience with 10-key data entry
- Experience with document retention software, AIQ, and Encompass
