[Remote] Manager, Accounting Advisory – Accounting & Operations - 100% Remote
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Principal Consulting Group is a fast-growing advisory firm specializing in technical accounting and finance transformation. They are seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee month-end close processes and improve accounting operations for multiple client engagements.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute month-end close processes across multiple client engagements, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Diagnose and resolve gaps in accounting workflows, documentation, and internal controls
- Lead initiatives that streamline close processes, improve efficiency, and strengthen controls
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and workpapers
- Support technical accounting areas including revenue recognition, leases, and equity-related transactions
- Apply modern tools and automation, including AI-enabled solutions, to enhance accounting processes while adhering to security and compliance standards
- Supervise and develop onshore and offshore team members, including coaching, performance feedback, and work review
- Ensure quality and consistency of deliverables in line with firm and client expectations
- Escalate technical or operational issues proactively to appropriate stakeholders
- Monitor engagement budgets, track actuals vs. scope, and flag potential overages to leadership in a timely manner
- Partner with engagement leadership on status updates, risk identification, and resource planning
- Stay informed on emerging finance technologies and automation trends, identifying opportunities for improvement across client work and internal processes
- Participate in client meetings and serve as a trusted accounting advisor
Skills
- Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or similar
- 4–5+ years of progressive GL accounting experience
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, month-end close and reporting cycles, ideally across multiple clients, entities, or business units
- Experience supervising, reviewing, or mentoring junior accounting staff
- Strong project management skills with a track record of improving accounting processes, controls, and operational efficiency while managing competing priorities and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in client-facing interactions
- Proficiency with NetSuite (QBO, Rillet is great to have), exposure to FloQast, Numeric, Bill.com, Ramp, Coupa, Expensify, Alteryx, or similar
- CPA, or CPA-eligible with active progress toward certification preferred
- Exposure to AI-driven finance tools, automation platforms, and emerging AI infrastructure (including MCP or AI agent workflows) strongly preferred
- Experience in high-growth, pre-IPO, or public company environments is a plus
