[Remote] Leadership and Innovation Advisor (Consultant)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Orbis International is seeking a Leadership and Innovation Advisor for their Women Leaders in Eye Health initiative. The role involves designing and delivering mentorship and leadership training programs while integrating them with funding opportunities to promote gender equity in eye health.
Responsibilities
- Finalize and deliver a virtual AMPLIF-EYE mentorship and leadership curriculum using adult learning and gender-transformative methodologies
- Facilitate interactive virtual Training-of-Trainers sessions for a cohort of mid-career women in eye health
- Provide structured group-based and individual coaching to support participants in developing mentorship or leadership initiatives aligned with WLEH values
- Support participants to articulate (from the application stage) and further refine innovation-aligned mentorship or leadership project ideas with clear potential for scale or replication
- Support the implementation of a transparent and merit-based selection process to the open call for applications for the Fellowship and Innovations Fund, in coordination with the Gender team
- Provide technical input, as needed, to assess alignment, feasibility, and leadership impact of proposed fellowship or innovation ideas
- Support awardees to strengthen learning outcomes and institutional impact
- Act as the connective link between AMPLIF-EYE and the Fellowship and Innovations Fund by supporting an integrated design in which innovation-aligned mentorship project ideas are articulated from the AMPLIF-EYE application stage and further refined through training and coaching
- Work with the AMPLIF-EYE cohort to mature pre-identified project ideas during the program, ensuring alignment with WLEH values and clarity around feasibility, leadership contribution, and potential for scale or replication
- Where relevant, support and encourage participants whose project ideas demonstrate strong alignment to apply to the Fellowship/Innovations Fund through the established, merit-based selection processes, recognizing this as a continuum rather than a separate pathway
- Ensure coherence across timelines and expected outcomes between participant selection, mentorship training, project implementation, and any subsequent funding support, while maintaining clear distinction between training participation and funding decisions
- A finalized AMPLIF-EYE mentorship and leadership curriculum, including training materials aligned with adult learning and gender-transformative methodologies
- Delivery of structured virtual Training-of-Trainers (ToT) mentorship and leadership sessions for the AMPLIF-EYE cohort
- Ongoing group-based and individual coaching support to participants as they refine and implement mentorship or leadership initiatives identified through the application and training process
- Support the establishment and implementation of a transparent, merit-based selection process for the Fellowship and Innovations Fund, in coordination with the WLEH team
- Technical input to assess proposed Fellowship and Innovation applications for alignment with WLEH values, leadership contribution, feasibility, and potential for institutional or system-level impact
- Follow-up support to selected awardees, as appropriate, to strengthen learning outcomes, leadership development, and effective use of funds
- Actively document learning and insights emerging from the connection between AMPLIF-EYE and the Fellowship and Innovations Fund, including how early project articulation through mentorship training informs the quality and impact of funded initiatives
- Prepare a final integrated impact report synthesizing mentorship and leadership outcomes from AMPLIF-EYE, outcomes and early impact of Fellowship and Innovation awards, and key lessons learned from linking a mentorship incubator with an accelerator fund to inform future program design and scale-up
Skills
- Advanced degree in public health, international development, education, gender studies, or a related field
- Proven experience delivering leadership or mentorship Training-of-Trainers programs, preferably in low- and middle-income country contexts
- Experience working across capacity-building programs and grant or fellowship mechanisms
- Strong understanding of gender-transformative programming and mentorship methodologies
- Experience facilitating virtual learning and adult education programs
- Demonstrated capacity for coaching, follow-up, and qualitative impact reflection
