[Remote] Interim Marketing Compliance Paralegal
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Major, Lindsey & Africa is seeking an experienced marketing compliance paralegal or attorney to assist a Beverage Company on a full-time basis for the next 3-6 months. The role involves reviewing and ensuring compliance of marketing materials with legal requirements and internal policies while collaborating with various teams.
Responsibilities
- Review and compliance-clear marketing, advertising, and promotional materials in accordance with internal policies and applicable legal requirements
- Evaluate consumer-facing materials for regulatory and legal compliance, including claims support and disclosure requirements
- Review and advise on:
- Press releases
- Sweepstakes and promotional campaigns, including official rules and required registrations
- Advertising and creative copy
- Television, digital, and audiovisual commercials and storyboards
- Marketing and creative presentations
- Website content and imagery
- Point-of-sale materials, sales collateral, and sell sheets
- Identify and mitigate advertising, promotion, labeling, and disclosure risks
- Serve as the primary compliance point of contact for Marketing teams and business stakeholders
- Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Marketing, Brand, and Commercial teams to facilitate timely review and approval processes
- Escalate complex legal or regulatory matters to Legal counsel as appropriate
- Support compliance reviews for U.S. marketing initiatives, with occasional review of Canadian materials as needed
Skills
- 5+ years of marketing compliance experience, preferably within a food & beverage company
- Prior experience reviewing and approving marketing, advertising, and promotional materials for compliance purposes
- Working knowledge of U.S. advertising and consumer protection regulations
- Familiarity with FTC advertising standards and FDA regulatory guidance applicable to food and beverage products
- Experience assessing marketing claims, disclosures, promotions, contests, and sweepstakes
- Ability to provide practical, business-oriented compliance guidance in a fast-paced commercial environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working directly with marketing and creative teams
- Food and beverage industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience supporting consumer packaged goods (CPG) organizations
- Familiarity with Canadian advertising and promotional requirements is a plus
