[Remote] Fiscal Officer & HR Administrator, MSU BAM / Administrative Business Professional
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Michigan State University is seeking a Fiscal Officer & HR Administrator for the MSU Broad Art Museum. This role is responsible for managing the museum's finances and overseeing human resources functions, ensuring alignment of resources with the museum's programmatic goals.
Responsibilities
- Leads the museum’s budget planning, forecasting, and special projects
- Manages and controls the museum’s finances
- Serves as a thought partner with the Leadership Team to ensure resources align with programmatic ambitions
- Leads grants budgeting, planning, implementation, and reporting
- Oversees human resources for the museum, supporting hiring processes, ensuring proper onboarding, setting museum policies, and assisting team members with HR-related questions
Skills
- Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a business-related field or in a field which corresponds to the particular department of employment
- Three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in budgeting, forecasting, and administrative and office procedures
- Experience developing and managing complex financial documents, and presenting them in easy to interpret forms for museum leadership and team members
- Experience leading teams and employee supervision
- Processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strategic financial leadership, including budget development, forecasting, and aligning resources with institutional and programmatic priorities
- Advanced proficiency with business and financial tools, including spreadsheets, databases, and reporting visualization tools. Strong knowledge of financial controls, accounting practices, and compliance
- Operational and administrative management experience within a complex organization, preferably in a nonprofit or cultural institution
- Human resources administration (preferred), including recruitment, onboarding, policy development, and employee relations support
- Grants financial management experience (preferred), including budgeting, compliance, reporting, and coordination with program staff
- Experience and knowledge processing transactions in EBS and producing reports using Business Intelligence and Analytics, including processing academic, staff, temps and on-call, and student transactions; processing a wide variety of KFS (Finance) documents including travel reimbursements, disbursement vouchers; purchasing card expenditures, general error corrections, distribution of income and expense, and other financial documents; ability to handle and protect confidential information; understanding of the MSU Manual of Business Procedures, and MSU Human Resource Policies and Procedures; very strong technical abilities and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), desktop publishing and web content management software
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; self-starter who possesses good decision-making skills, ability to work under deadlines with little or no supervision; ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and/or complex issues with superior organizational skills
