[Remote] Financial and Budget Technician

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is seeking a Financial and Budget Technician to support financial management activities at the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility. The role involves maintaining financial systems and assisting with budget-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain financial management activities and projects through a variety of software systems
• Assist with performing budget and financial management tasks including quality control of financial data
• Assist with preparing financial reports or salary reports
• Prepare cost estimates or budgetary data
• Operate accounting or financial systems
• Prepare financial reports or salary reports; analyze implications on the reports of overall budgets; and make recommendations to the fundholder

Skills

• Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education
• Qualifying experience for GS-05 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-04 which is directly related to the work of this position
• Specialized experience for GS-05 includes experience assisting with performing budget and financial management tasks including quality control of financial data; and assisting with preparing financial reports or salary reports
• Education for GS-05 includes successful completion of a full 4-year course of study above high school in related degrees such as accounting, financial management, general business, public administration, and business administration
• A combination of education and specialized experience is acceptable for GS-05
• Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position
• Specialized experience for GS-06 includes experience performing budget and financial management tasks including quality control of financial data; preparing cost estimates or budgetary data; and operating accounting or financial systems
• Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position
• Specialized experience for GS-07 includes preparing financial reports or salary reports; analyzing implications on the reports of overall budgets; and making recommendations to the fundholder
• Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations
