[Remote] Engineering Manager

They are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance functions, ensuring maximum equipment reliability and supporting continuous operational improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead all plant engineering, maintenance, and reliability functions to support safe and efficient production operations
- Develop and execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and minimize unplanned downtime
- Manage maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution across all production departments
- Lead capital improvement projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, energy efficiency, operational performance, and cost reduction
- Ensure compliance with USDA, OSHA, GMP, HACCP, FSMA, and all applicable safety and regulatory standards
- Develop and manage the engineering and maintenance budget, including capital expenditure planning
- Partner closely with Operations, Production, Quality Assurance, and Corporate Engineering to support plant objectives and long-term business strategy
- Analyze equipment performance data and implement corrective actions to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Manage external contractors, vendors, and engineering service providers
- Lead, coach, and develop maintenance supervisors, planners, engineers, and skilled trades personnel
- Support automation, process optimization, and equipment modernization initiatives where appropriate
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the engineering function
Skills
- 7+ years of engineering and maintenance leadership experience within food manufacturing, meat processing, protein processing, or other high-volume manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, CMMS systems, and reliability-centered maintenance practices
- Experience managing capital projects and equipment installations
- Working knowledge of PLCs, industrial automation, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, refrigeration, boilers, and utilities
- Strong understanding of USDA, OSHA, HACCP, GMP, and food safety requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance budgets, capital expenditure, and contractor performance
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferred
- Previous experience managing engineering and maintenance teams in a USDA-regulated processing facility is strongly preferred
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or Continuous Improvement experience is highly desirable
