[Remote] Design Network Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Los Angeles Unified School District is at the forefront of innovation in public education, seeking a Design Network Engineer. This role involves supervising technicians, planning and implementing network infrastructure, and managing various telecommunication systems to support the educational mission.
Responsibilities
- Supervises the work of lower-level technicians and contractors engaged in assisting and implementing the internetworking infrastructure systems throughout the District
- Plans, designs, and implements LAN/WLAN, camera, intrusion, video access control, voice, and video convergence integration
- Implements and manages Internet Protocol Telephony (IPT) deployment in a call management cluster environment with unity voice integration
- Performs design, implementation and performance engineering analysis, and diagnosis of large complex infrastructure network systems
- Assists in developing architectures, specifications and planning for enterprise-wide tactical and strategic requirements, system definition, and feasibility determination within a complex systems environment
- Assists in the development and implementation of a multi-system capacity plan. Integrates and schematically depicts communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signal links, and protocols into system configurations
- Manages or performs network installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance including field services
- Analyzes converged IT systems, and wide area networks (WAN), and circuits
- Evaluates new products and technologies, performs network problem resolution, and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards, procedures and interface applications
- Assesses enterprise-wide network and infrastructure including hardware, software and protocols for compatibility, performance, optimization and scalability and makes recommendations for improvement
- Acts as the project leader on enterprise-wide assignments for the implementation of existing and emerging or new District-level technologies
Skills
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in math, computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, data communications, network engineering, telecommunications management, or a related field
- Six years of direct experience designing, engineering, implementing and configuring enterprise network infrastructure systems
- The aforementioned experience must include two years of designing LAN/WLAN and VoIP technologies into an enterprise IT infrastructure
- Ability to safely lift and carry tools and materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- A valid driver's license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the state of California and the use of a motor vehicle
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) is required
- One year of camera, intrusion, and public address systems is preferable
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert, Cisco Certified VoIP certifications, Alcatel and Aruba are highly preferable
