[Remote] Data Governance & Metadata Scientist - WO-006

SOSi is a leader in the defense and government services industry, seeking a Data Governance & Metadata Scientist to enhance data interoperability and governance for a DoD customer. The role involves developing and maintaining data governance frameworks, implementing metadata tagging processes, and ensuring compliance with data management policies.
Responsibilities
- The contractor shall establish and maintain metadata governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with DoD data management policies and interoperability with Data Catalog
- The contractor shall develop automated metadata tagging processes to improve data discoverability, classification, and lineage tracking within the Common Intelligence Picture (CIP) platform
- The contractor shall implement and manage data governance workflows, ensuring integration with OpenLineage, Unity Catalog, and GIS metadata standards
- The contractor shall submit the Metadata & Data Governance Compliance Report, detailing lineage tracking, classification policies, and security enhancements
Skills
- Knowledge and capability to develop, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring metadata consistency, lineage tracking, and interoperability between Data Lake, ESRI Kubernetes environments, and external data sources
- Personnel must be proficient in metadata management, data lineage tracking (Unity Catalog/OpenLineage), schema alignment, and governance best practices
- Expertise in geospatial data standards, data cataloging, and compliance with DoD metadata policies is required
- The contractor shall provide personnel with a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Management, GIS, or a related field, or; five (5) years of equivalent experience in data governance, metadata management, or geospatial data integration
- Demonstrated experience in: Implementing metadata governance frameworks for structured and unstructured data in cloud-based environments
- Tracking data lineage and ensuring metadata synchronization across a Data Catalog, ESRI Kubernetes, and enterprise metadata repositories
- Utilizing OpenLineage, Apache Atlas, or similar tools for metadata and data lineage management
- Enforcing compliance with DoD metadata policies and NSG tradecraft standards for geospatial datasets
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
- DAMA Certified Data Governance Professional (DGSP)
- ESRI Geospatial Data Management Certification
