[Remote] API Integration Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Russell Tobin is seeking an experienced API Integration Engineer to support a data retention initiative. This role involves designing and building API connections to retrieve historical data from a legacy vendor platform and ensuring secure data transfer for compliance purposes.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement API integrations between internal systems and a legacy vendor platform
- Retrieve, validate, and transfer historical data for record retention and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with internal engineering, security, and business stakeholders to define integration requirements
- Troubleshoot API connectivity, authentication, and data mapping issues
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security throughout the migration process
- Develop technical documentation for integration workflows and data transfer processes
- Monitor and optimize API performance and reliability
- Support testing, deployment, and post-implementation validation activities
Skills
- 4+ years of software engineering or API integration experience
- Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs
- Proficiency with API authentication methods including OAuth, API keys, and token-based authentication
- Experience integrating third-party/vendor systems and managing data migrations
- Strong understanding of JSON, XML, and data transformation techniques
- Experience with cloud-based environments and modern development practices
- Ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues independently
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote environment
- Experience with data retention, compliance, or archival initiatives
- Familiarity with large-scale data extraction and migration projects
- Experience working in fintech or highly regulated environments
- Knowledge of AWS, Python, Java, Node.js, or similar technologies
