Remote-work candidates are welcome Job Overview: Reporting to the Sr Director of Execution Engineering, the QC Manager is responsible for managing and reviewing quality control with EPCs and manufacturers. This position is an integral part of executing Birch Creek Energy’s 13 GW of solar and battery storage project pipeline in multiple states throughout the U.S. Through construction documentation review and periodic travel to sites, the QC manager will ensure that projects are constructed to meet Birch Creek’s technical specifications. This role requires up to 25% travel each month Day to Day: Create and maintain a Company Quality Control program for solar PV and BESS projects. Negotiate QC contract exhibits with EPCs and review and approve EPCs QA/QC plans. Complete site visits to inspect EPCs implementation and adherence to QA/QC procedures. Review manufacturer factory acceptance testing results for transformers, inverters, PV modules, breakers, and other Owner Furnished Equipment. Review QC submittal documentation and construction progress photos to determine compliance with contract and applicable codes and standards. Attend golden row walks and first install reviews for critical construction milestones on site. Create punch list of construction deficiencies through in person inspections and contractor submittal review. Lead the mechanical, substantial and final completion close out of projects through organizing the review of technical submissions by EPC. Coordinate punch list items with IE and manage closeout of open IE items. Maintain a lesson learned log and improvements to technical processes for EPCs and Company contract exhibits Host project coordination meetings with EPCs and manufacturers. Support the EPC RFP process by creating technical exhibits, reviewing proposals, and responding to RFIs. Evaluate the completion of key commissioning activities and attend coordination meetings with Utilities and ISOs. Complete equipment reviews and provide RFI support during construction. Train site representatives and third parties on conducting quality control inspections during the construction process. Knowledge & Skills Excellent knowledge of the solar and BESS construction process. Have a working knowledge of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, SCADA, Substation, and Structural installation practices for solar projects. Understanding of the NEC, NESC, NETA ATS, ASTM. Ability to use AutoCAD and Blue Beam Ability to establish strong relationships with EPCs. Proven problem solving and negotiation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment. General knowledge of technical standards applicable to the project interconnection design. The annual salary for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law.
