Program Manager – Capital Projects (Manufacturing) Remote - Northern USA
Engineering Program Manager Location: New York, NY, United States Work setting: Remote role with ~50% travel across US manufacturing sites (Northeast, West Coast) and occasional international travel; industrial manufacturing / FMCG supply chain environment A global beverage and food manufacturing company is seeking an Engineering Program Manager to lead capital engineering programs across multiple production sites within its North American network. Role purpose Drive the development and execution of corporate manufacturing engineering strategy, managing capital investment projects across multiple beverage and food production facilities. The role focuses on improving productivity, optimising manufacturing systems, and supporting network growth. Key responsibilities Capital project leadership
- Lead end-to-end execution of capital engineering projects (from concept to completion)
- Define project scope, performance criteria, timelines, and capital budgets
- Manage project spend and ensure delivery within cost and schedule
Manufacturing optimisation
- Identify and deliver cost-saving and productivity improvement initiatives
- Apply lean manufacturing and standard work principles
- Support equipment integration and “vertical start-up” processes
Technical execution
- Work with manufacturing sites to design, modify, and implement production equipment
- Collaborate on capacity expansion and system upgrades across plants
- Support deployment of high-speed filling and packaging systems
Stakeholder management
- Build strong relationships with internal engineering, operations, and supply chain teams
- Coordinate with external equipment suppliers and vendors
- Communicate across multiple organisational levels and functions
Data-driven decision making
- Use data analysis to guide engineering and investment decisions
- Ensure alignment between technical solutions and business performance goals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering
- 8+ years of experience in capital engineering or manufacturing projects
- Experience managing large-scale projects ($100K–$25M range)
- Experience in FMCG / food & beverage manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of production systems (filling, packaging, batching, CIP, etc.)
- PMP certification or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Ability to travel >50%
- Comfortable working remotely with high autonomy
Work environment A large-scale FMCG manufacturing and supply chain environment within the beverage and packaged food industry , focused on multi-site engineering, capital investment programmes, production optimisation, and industrial equipment deployment across North American manufacturing operations.
