JOB TITLE: Product Coordinator Consultant TYPE OF CONTRACT: WAE CST L1 UNIT/DIVISION: TECD Information Technology Division (TEC) DUTY STATION (City, Country): Remote working DURATION: Until 31/12/2026, around 90 days BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT: Through its “Building Blocks” (BB) system, WFP has been applying blockchain technology towards better achieving its mission of ending hunger and empowering the people it serves. BB is the world’s largest and most advanced implementation of blockchain for humanitarian aid. Building Blocks serves both as a coordination mechanism among organizations providing aid (e.g. UN and NGOs) as well as a distribution mechanism for various types of aid (e.g. food and cash). WFP offers BB for free to reputable humanitarian organizations which become equal owner/operators of the network upon joining. The technical architecture of BB can also accommodate other use cases such as supply chain management and digital identities. Building Blocks interacts with many functions of WFP, such as Programme, Finance, Procurement, Legal, Technology, HR, Audit, and Innovation, and is looking for a highly driven and competent individual to manage all internal administrative matters. The ideal candidate is highly self-driven with a particular talent for understanding intraorganizational dynamics and the interplay between various functions. ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of Head of Software Solutions Development and Deployment, the BB Corporate Project Coordinator’s responsibilities include:

  • Keep up in-depth understanding of WFP’s complex functional units, the interplay between

them, and whom to go to for what.

  • Build productive working relationships with WFP’s functional units.
  • Keep up to date with strategic organizational developments and advise on how to ensure BB

keeps up with the latest trends/requirements.

  • Support scoping activities to evaluate BB’s potential application for WFP and partner operations

across the globe.

  • Support operational roll-out and scaleup activities as needed.
  • Manage BB’s internal needs, including working closely with functions such as Programme,

Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Audit, and Legal.

  • Develop and manage BB funding proposals.
  • Perform any other relevant tasks.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

  • Relationships with various internal BB stakeholders established, and regular meetings to provide

updates, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for closer collaboration held.

  • In particular, oversee BB’s interactions with CBT, FIN, INKA, LEG, OIGA, TECA, TECB, TECF, TECI,

TECG, TECX, and SCOT managed.

  • Responsibility for BB’s budget assumed, including a full review of funding and expenditures

thus far, and managing all budget related matters/reporting.

  • The successful, timely, and satisfactory completion any BB audits managed.
  • BB funding proposals prepared and seen to completion.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Education: University degree in law, business, communications, psychology, or related field. Experience:

  • At least three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Project management experience is an asset.
  • Intermediate finance/budget skills is an asset.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Continually strives to develop new skills outside of comfort zone.
  • Highly autonomous and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and ability to decide from incomplete

information.

  • Ability to come up with innovative solutions to problems without

precedent.

  • Strong conflict resolution and consensus-building skills.

Languages: Fluency (level C) in English language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or WFP’s working language, Portuguese, is desirable.
