Job Description: Conversion of Contractor - Daud Mydin (X00244) The Principal Database Administrator – Oracle is responsible for the architecture, reliability, performance, security, and lifecycle management of enterprise Oracle database platforms. This role serves as the senior technical authority for Oracle database operations, high availability, disaster recovery, patching, upgrades, automation, standards, and production support. The Principal DBA will lead complex database initiatives, guide other DBAs, establish best practices, and work closely with infrastructure, application, security, and data platform teams to ensure Oracle environments are stable, scalable, secure, and aligned with business requirements. Requirements/Qualifications:

Responsibilities

Administer and support Oracle databases across production, DR, test, and development environments. Install, configure, patch, upgrade, clone, refresh, and maintain Oracle database environments. Manage Oracle 11g, 12c, 19c, and newer versions, including single-instance and CDB/PDB environments. Support Oracle Data Guard, including standby databases, redo transport, apply lag, switchover, failover, and recovery. Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and related enterprise backup tools. Monitor and tune database performance using AWR, ASH, SQL Monitor, execution plans, wait events, and Oracle dynamic performance views. Troubleshoot production issues related to availability, performance, storage, backup failures, locking, replication, and connectivity. Manage database security, users, roles, privileges, auditing, encryption, and compliance-related controls. Create and maintain automation scripts for routine DBA tasks, health checks, monitoring, refreshes, and maintenance. Define and enforce database standards, operational procedures, documentation, and runbooks. Lead database projects including migrations, upgrades, DR testing, monitoring improvements, and platform modernization. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and escalation support to other DBAs and technical teams. Participate in change management, incident response, root cause analysis, and on-call support. Required Qualifications 10+ years of hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience in enterprise production environments. Strong experience with Oracle 11g, 12c, and 19c. Strong knowledge of Oracle architecture, backup/recovery, performance tuning, security, and operational best practices. Hands-on experience with RMAN backup and recovery. Hands-on experience with Oracle Data Guard administration and troubleshooting. Strong SQL and PL/SQL troubleshooting skills. Experience with Oracle patching, upgrades, OPatch, datapatch, and release/update planning. Experience tuning Oracle databases using AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL Monitor, execution plans, and wait events. Experience supporting large, business-critical databases with formal change control and incident management. Strong Linux/Unix skills, including shell scripting and system-level troubleshooting. Ability to write clear technical documentation, runbooks, standards, and root cause analysis reports. Strong communication skills and ability to work with application, infrastructure, security, and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Oracle certification or equivalent demonstrated expertise. Experience with Oracle ASM and Grid Infrastructure. Experience with Oracle RAC, SEHA, or other high availability architectures. Experience with Oracle Multitenant, including CDB/PDB administration. Experience with Oracle Enterprise Edition features such as Diagnostics Pack, Tuning Pack, Partitioning, Advanced Security, or Advanced Compression. Experience with VMware, enterprise storage, or clustered infrastructure. Experience with database replication or CDC tools such as Qlik Replicate, GoldenGate, Debezium, or similar platforms. Experience with monitoring tools such as OEM, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog, or similar tools. Experience with automation and CI/CD tools such as Ansible, Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or Terraform. Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, or other database platforms is a plus. Familiarity with Oracle licensing considerations and database platform modernization.
