Political Reporter / Writer
We’re looking for a writer with background in political reporting to serve as the right hand to the Editor-in-Chief. This role is for someone who can do it all: research, writing, editing, producing, and publishing across multiple platforms. You’ll play a critical role in shaping editorial strategy, ensuring operational excellence, and expanding our reach across newsletters, podcasts, video, and social media. - Support the Editor-in-Chief in all aspects of editorial production: research, drafting, editing, and fact-checking.
- Oversee daily publishing workflows, ensuring high-quality, timely output.
- Manage and produce content across formats: newsletters, long-form articles, video, audio, podcasts, and social media.
- Coordinate with reporters, producers, and designers to package stories for maximum impact.
- Develop editorial calendars, track deadlines, and enforce standards.
- Assist with audience engagement: email sends, A/B testing, and analyzing performance data.
- Stay on top of breaking news, political narratives, and media trends to feed into coverage.
- Step in for the Editor-in-Chief when needed on decision-making, writing, or editing.
- Minimum 3 years experience in journalism, media production, or a related field.
- Strong writer and editor with sharp news judgment.
- Proficiency in multimedia: video editing, podcast production, and social media content creation.
- Experience with publishing tools (Beehiiv, Substack, Mailchimp, CMS platforms) and social scheduling.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, start-up newsroom environment with shifting priorities.
- Highly organized, resourceful, and able to juggle multiple responsibilities.
- A passion for politics, media, and shaping narratives.
