Department BSD PED - Off-Site Clinics About the Department The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago is a dynamic and stimulating place to work. In addition to our provision of clinical care at UChicago Medicine (UCM) Comer Children’s Hospital and at our regional sites, we are currently expanding our clinical care across Northern Illinois and Northwestern Indiana. In collaboration with our partners in the Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance (CCHA; Advocate Children’s Hospital, and NorthShore University Health System). CCHA has responsibility for the care of almost 1 million children. The Department has expanded its presence to numerous satellite sites of care across the region with the goal of providing care ‘close to home’ whenever feasible (https://pediatrics.uchicago.edu/). We are especially committed to the children on the South Side of Chicago and to altering the inequities in healthcare. University of Chicago Pediatric Specialists, Tinley Park, is a specialty care pediatric office serving children aged 0-21. Various specialists hold clinics at this location including cardiology, rheumatology, neurology, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, and allergy. On average there are two providers per day working in the office. Job Summary Provide day-to-day support in a specialty pediatric area. Assist providers with procedures, rooming and triage of patients, basic point of care testing, and patient education. Monitoring supply inventories including ordering medical supplies and medications. Phone triage as necessary. Front desk duties include check in and out and scheduling as needed.

Responsibilities

Collect and document vitals and chief complaint. Obtain current medications. POC Testing in clinic. Assist with basic procedures in clinic. Stock and clean rooms. Obtain medical records/results as needed. Supply and inventory management. Scheduling appointments. Check in/check out process. Sign patients up for MyChart. Collect copayments. Obtain referrals if needed. Applies logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Has a solid understanding of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures. Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field. Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Certifications: --- Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Science in nursing. Experience: Nursing experience. Ambulatory care setting strongly preferred. Pediatric experience strongly preferred. Licenses and Certifications: Current licensure as registered nurse in the State of Illinois. BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association. Preferred Competencies Teamwork. Interactive communication. Effective and appropriate application of medical knowledge. Professionalism.
