About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop mechanical systems for advanced robotic platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mechanical product development, CAD design, prototyping, and manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with robotics, AI, electrical, and software engineers to transform concepts into production-ready robotic systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative technologies and contribute directly to the development of real-world robotic products.
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and complete robotic systems from concept to production.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Design mechanisms for robotic motion, actuation, structural support, and enclosure systems.
- Perform tolerance analysis, design validation, and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
- Support prototyping, testing, debugging, and design iteration activities.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure high-quality production-ready designs.
- Optimize designs for performance, reliability, weight, manufacturability, and cost.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
- 4+ years of professional experience in mechanical design, product development, or robotics hardware engineering.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Strong experience with AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly methods.
- Experience designing precision mechanical systems and moving assemblies.
- Knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, and 3D printing.
- Experience creating manufacturing drawings and documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing robotic systems, humanoid robots, robotic arms, mobile robots, or electromechanical products.
- Familiarity with Blender for concept visualization, rendering, or mesh preparation.
- Experience with FEA and engineering simulation tools.
- Understanding of motors, actuators, gearboxes, bearings, and motion transmission systems.
- Knowledge of mechatronics and integration with sensors and electronics.
- Experience taking products from prototype through manufacturing.
- Experience working in startup environments or fast-paced R&D teams.
