ManTech is hiring: Overnight Media Journalist in New York
MANTECHseeks anOvernight Media Journalistto conduct open-source research and analysis for a high-profile government customer inArlington, VA.This is aremoteposition.The selected individual will review a large volume of information across all news media formats (print, online, television, radio, and social media). This person will need to identify key themes in coverage and encapsulate information into easily consumed bullets, reports, and trend analysis to aid senior officials in their day-to-day decision-making.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Maintain a schedule that covers roughly 11 PM to 7 AM, Monday through Friday. At least one weekend per monthUtilize open-source research tools to capture, review, analyze, and interpret traditional and social media coverage, as it relates to a large and complex organizationContinually update search strings and key word searches across all research platforms to ensure all relevant content is capturedTrack daily developments including Congressional hearings and other public events for potential compilations and analysesMonitor and identify short and long-term trends as it relates to the client’s issues of interest and communicate in written products and client emailsPrepare news update products, briefings and executive summaries on select national security topicsInterface with the client virtually on their needs, changing requirements and new topics of interestAbility become available within 48 hours’ notice to meet with the client in person in the DC area (on occasion)Ability to meet tight deadlinesMinimum Qualifications:Bachelors’ degree required, preferably in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, International Relations or a related major2+ years of news gathering and analysis experienceExperience using Factiva, Lexis‑Nexis, TVEyes, Meltwater, Cision, Sprinklr or another social analytics toolExperience and knowledge of current national security and/or foreign policy news topicsExperience objectively analyzing reporting and news trendsProven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a portfolio of published articlesPreferred Qualifications:Exceptional writing and editing skillsExperience working with / knowledge of current national security and or foreign policy news topicsClearance Requirements:Must have a current/active DOD Interim Secret security clearancePhysical Requirements:The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
