Licensed Public Adjuster - Founding Role
Company Description
Clayem is a licensed public adjusting firm based in Maryland that pairs AI policy analysis with licensed human advocacy. Our platform reads the full insurance policy against the loss, flags overlooked coverage, and drafts the correspondence. A licensed public adjuster reviews and approves everything before it reaches an insurer. Clients pay nothing unless we beat the insurer’s first offer. We are licensed in Maryland, Virginia, and DC, with cases live in Maryland first. Role Description This is a 1099 independent contractor role for a Licensed Public Adjuster handling Maryland residential property claims (fire, water, storm, roof, denied and underpaid claims). You choose which cases to accept, set your own schedule, and work remotely, applying your own professional judgment on every claim. The analysis and drafting are largely done before a case reaches you. Your job is to review, approve, and negotiate with the carrier as the named licensed professional on the case. You are paid a share of the contingency fee on each case you settle. This is a founding seat: as volume grows, this role becomes Lead Public Adjuster, setting standards and helping build the adjuster network.
Qualifications
- Active Maryland public adjuster license in good standing (VA or DC a plus)
- Real experience negotiating residential property claims with carriers, including detailed written pushback on lowball estimates
- Strong knowledge of property damage assessment and policy language
- Comfortable working in a software dashboard
- Commitment to ethical policyholder advocacy and state compliance rules
