IT Infrastructure Administrator
About the role The IT Infrastructure Administrator supports the organization's core IT operations across end-user support, identity and access management, device management, and infrastructure maintenance. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, suited for someone with a strong foundation in Microsoft 365 E5 administration and a desire to grow into broader systems responsibilities. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience working with the full Microsoft 365 E5 suite, particularly Entra ID, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Intune, and is comfortable supporting both cloud and on-premises environments. This role frequently collaborates with senior IT staff and contributes to providing secure, reliable, and efficient technology services for the business. What you'll do End-User Support (Tier 1-3)
- Provide timely technical support for Windows and macOS systems, productivity applications, and user devices.
- Troubleshoot issues with Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and related M365 services.
- Support MFA, password resets, account lockouts, and connectivity issues.
- Assist with workstation setup, peripheral configuration, and meeting room technology.
- Escalate complex issues to senior team members with clear documentation.
Identity & Access Management
- Administer user lifecycle processes (onboarding, transfers, offboarding).
- Manage identities and access within Microsoft Entra ID:
- Group membership
- Role-based access assignments
- License provisioning
- Support SSO/MFA enrollment and troubleshoot authentication issues.
- Maintain security and compliance guidelines for identity management.
Endpoint & Device Management
- Provision, configure, and maintain Windows and macOS endpoints.
- Manage device enrollment, compliance, and configuration profiles via Microsoft Intune.
- Monitor endpoint security and health using Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
- Apply OS and application patches in alignment with IT policies.
- Support hardware lifecycle management including imaging, repairs, and asset tracking.
- Ensure encryption, antivirus, and EDR agents are properly deployed and operational.
Server, Infrastructure & Cloud Support
- Assist with daily monitoring and basic administration of servers and cloud resources (e.g., Windows Server, Azure VMs, virtual environments).
- Perform routine tasks such as service restarts, updates, and log reviews.
- Assist in file server, print server, and line-of-business application maintenance.
- Validate backup job success and support simple restore operations.
- Participate in system maintenance windows and planned downtime activities.
Basic Network Device Configuration
- Perform entry-level configuration and support of network equipment.
- VLAN updates
- Port configurations
- Basic firewall rule changes (under supervision)
- WLAN profile adjustments
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving switches, APs, and end-user devices.
- Update network documentation and support senior IT with broader network changes.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 E5 environments, specifically:
- Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
- Intune (Endpoint Manager)
- Teams administration
- SharePoint Online
- Strong understanding of Windows 10/11, macOS, and fundamental networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
- Experience with AD/Entra hybrid identity environments.
- Ability to write and follow SOPs and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PowerShell for basic scripting or automation.
- Familiarity with Azure portal administration.
- Exposure to virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).
- CompTIA Network+, Microsoft certifications, or related training.
