About the Firm We are an independent sponsor firm focused on sourcing and managing private investment opportunities. Our team partners with a broad network of debt and equity investors to fund transactions across diverse industries. Role Summary The Human Resources Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for owning the firm’s end-to-end talent and people operations. This position will establish and maintain best-in-class hiring standards, design and optimize recruiting workflows and systems, and provide employee management support across the organization. While not involved in day-to-day sourcing or screening, the HR Manager will oversee the entire talent acquisition process, ensure a high-quality candidate and employee experience, and drive initiatives that strengthen company culture, compliance, and organizational effectiveness as the firm scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Talent Strategy & Hiring Standards: Develop and maintain firm-wide hiring standards, role profiles, interview frameworks, and evaluation criteria that ensure consistent, high-quality talent acquisition aligned with Dark Alpha Capital’s culture and growth objectives.
  • Recruiting Workflow Management: Design, implement, and continuously improve the end-to-end recruiting process and workflows, including tools, documentation, ATS utilization, and reporting. Oversee coordination between hiring managers, recruiters (internal or external), and other stakeholders.
  • Workforce Planning & Talent Pipeline: Partner with senior leadership to forecast talent needs, build succession plans, and maintain a strong pipeline of passive and active candidates across key functions.
  • Employee Management & Relations: Support employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, performance management, professional development, employee engagement, and offboarding processes.
  • Policy & Compliance: Develop and enforce HR policies, procedures, and best practices related to employment law, confidentiality, diversity, and regulatory compliance in a remote environment.
  • Process Optimization & Systems: Identify opportunities to enhance HR operations through tools, automation, and documentation. Manage relationships with external vendors (recruiters, background check providers, HR platforms, etc.).
  • Culture & Employer Brand: Help shape and promote the firm’s employer brand, values, and employee experience to attract top talent and retain high performers.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Track key HR metrics (time-to-hire, offer acceptance rate, turnover, etc.) and provide regular insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Leadership Collaboration: Advise senior management on people-related matters and serve as a trusted partner to hiring managers across the firm.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3-5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial or lead Talent Acquisition / HR role.
  • Strong experience designing and optimizing recruiting processes, workflows, and standards in a fast-growing or lean organization.
  • Solid knowledge of employment law, compliance, and best practices in talent management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a remote, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in Private Equity, Investment Management, Financial Services, or other professional services environments.
  • Familiarity with modern HRIS/ATS platforms and recruitment tools.
  • Exposure to performance management systems, employee engagement initiatives, and culture-building in small-to-mid-sized firms.

Reporting Structure and Work Environment Reports To: Vice President of Operations (Chief of Staff) or Senior Management Team Direct Reports: Talent Acquisition Associates Work Environment:

  • Standard office hours 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (EST)
  • Remote role, with periodic strategic syncs

Compensation

Structure: Performance-Based Success Fee Only Terms: No salary, retainer, hourly compensation, milestone payments, or guaranteed compensation. The Human Resources Manager will be eligible to receive a 1.0% Success Fee of Net Closing Transaction Fees generated by transactions successfully closed by the firm. Compensation is funded exclusively from transaction-related revenues received by the Company and is contingent upon a successful closing. This role is designed for professionals who are motivated by performance, long-term value creation, and direct alignment with firm outcomes.
