Geologist
NV5 is a consulting and engineering services company that focuses on delivering solutions to improve communities. They are seeking a motivated Geologist for their Ventura, CA office, where the role will involve a significant amount of fieldwork and geotechnical exploration, as well as report preparation and testing services.
Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical exploration including field mapping, drilling, and trenching for various geotechnical studies
- Perform field observation and testing on grading and construction projects, including field density testing and concrete sampling and testing
- Assist in geotechnical report preparation including exploration logs, map and cross section preparation, geotechnical analyses, and report writing
- Perform miscellaneous field, office and laboratory duties in support of geotechnical studies and construction materials testing projects
Skills
- BS Geology / Geological Sciences
- 1-2 years professional experience in the field
- CA Geologist-In-Training Certificate
- Experience with public works and transportation projects
- MS preferred
- Nuclear Gauge certification preferred, not required
- ACI Concrete Technician preferred, not required
