Fleet Manager
The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's fleet of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective. This position manages vehicle acquisition, maintenance, repairs, licensing, fuel usage, driver compliance, and fleet performance while ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities ● Manage the daily operations of the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment. ● Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime. ● Coordinate vehicle inspections, repairs, and warranty work with internal technicians and external vendors. ● Monitor fleet performance, utilization, fuel consumption, and operating costs. ● Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and environmental requirements where applicable. ● Maintain accurate records for vehicle registrations, titles, insurance, permits, inspections, and maintenance history. ● Oversee vehicle acquisition, replacement, disposal, and asset lifecycle management. ● Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors, repair facilities, leasing companies, and fuel providers. ● Monitor driver qualifications, licensing, training, and compliance with company safety policies. ● Investigate vehicle accidents and coordinate insurance claims and corrective actions. ● Develop and enforce fleet policies and procedures. ● Prepare reports and analyze fleet metrics to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements. ● Manage fleet budgets and recommend capital expenditures. ● Handle the coordination of after-hours support as needed. Required Qualifications ● Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related field preferred but not required. ● High school diploma or equivalent required. ● Minimum of 3–5 years of fleet management or transportation management experience. ● Experience managing commercial vehicle fleets preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ● Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance and repair practices. ● Understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and vehicle safety standards. ● Experience with fleet management software and GPS/telematics systems. ● Strong analytical and budgeting skills. ● Excellent organizational and time management abilities. ● Strong communication and leadership skills. ● Ability to negotiate effectively with vendors and service providers. ● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. ● Ability to analyze reports and make data-driven decisions. ● Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
