Experienced Remote Data Entry Associate – Patient Identity Expert for Health Information Management

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

Introduction to the Company and Industry In the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare, the importance of accurate and efficient health information management cannot be overstated. Our client, a pioneering force in the Health Information Management (HIM) space, is dedicated to providing Master Patient Index (MPI) clean-up services. These services are crucial for hospitals and healthcare providers, as they help eliminate duplicate patient records within electronic medical records (EMRs), a surprisingly common issue that can lead to inefficiencies and errors in patient care. By joining this innovative team as a Patient Identity Expert, you will be at the forefront of improving healthcare data management, contributing to better patient outcomes, and enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services. Job Summary As a Patient Identity Expert, you will play a vital role in our client's mission by working on MPI Data Reconciliation Projects. This entry-level opportunity is perfect for individuals looking to learn and grow in the HIM field. Your primary responsibilities will include researching and updating data within hospital information systems or ancillary applications to ensure the accuracy and integrity of patient records. This role is not just about data entry; it's about being part of a team that makes a real difference in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

Collect designated information from hospital applications that impact merge planning and downstream tasks, ensuring all data is accurate and up-to-date. Perform merges of duplicate medical record numbers in designated applications, following standard procedures to maintain data integrity. Complete demographic updates to patient records as needed during electronic merge processing, ensuring that all patient information is current and accurate. Create spreadsheets for medical record or radiology jacket retrieval purposes, maintaining meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of the data. Maintain an accuracy level of 97% or higher on Merge Planning QA and 95% or higher on Electronic Verification QA, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in data management. Work Environment and Culture This role offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to contribute to the team from anywhere outside of California. Our client provides all necessary equipment, ensuring you have the tools you need to succeed. While the position requires working independently with limited direct communication with other team members, you will be part of a supportive project leadership team that is always available to address questions and concerns. This environment is ideal for self-starters who are comfortable with autonomy and thrive in roles that require adaptability and quick learning.

Essential Qualifications

Data entry skills with excellent attention to detail, demonstrating the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and critical thinking skills, essential for effectively reaching out to the project leadership team with questions or concerns. Ability to be a self-starter, working independently with minimal supervision and managing time efficiently to meet productivity standards. Strong computer skills, with proficiency in using various software applications and the ability to quickly learn new systems. High school diploma or GED equivalent required, with a preference for candidates who have experience or education in health information management or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in data entry or health information management, although not required, is highly valued. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs) and hospital information systems is a plus. Experience working in a remote environment and managing time effectively to meet deadlines.

Career Growth

Opportunities and Learning Benefits This role offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and development in the Health Information Management field. By working on MPI Data Reconciliation Projects, you will gain hands-on experience with healthcare data management systems, learn about the importance of patient identity management, and understand how accurate data impacts patient care. Our client is committed to the development of its team members, providing training and support to help you succeed in your role and advance in your career.

Skills and Competencies

Required for Success Attention to Detail: The ability to work with a high level of accuracy, ensuring that all data entry and updates are correct and thorough. Adaptability: Willingness to learn new processes and systems quickly, as the role involves moving between projects frequently. Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial for success, both in reaching out to the project leadership team and in documenting work accurately. Time Management: Ability to manage time efficiently, meeting productivity standards and deadlines in a remote work environment.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

Our client offers a competitive starting pay of $15 per hour, with opportunities for growth and professional development. While working remotely, you will be provided with all necessary equipment, and you will have the flexibility to manage your schedule, with the requirement to attend meetings and training during standard business hours (8am-5pm MST). This role is an excellent opportunity for those who value work-life balance and are looking for a challenging yet rewarding career in health information management.
