ERP Business Product Owner
Full time | On-site: Nairobi, Kenya / India, or Remote
About the Role
The Business Product Owner will be FinAgra’s internal ERPNext product owner from the business side. You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders, the tech product team, owning the backlog, prioritisation, configuration quality, and rollout progress across both Kenya and India. Areas of Responsibility The Business Product Owner is accountable for: the business value delivered by ERPNext. successful rollout in new countries. user adoption of the system. quality of requirements. achievement of business outcomes through process automation. ERPNext is the company’s core operational platform, covering procurement, inventory, sales, finance, and accounting. FinAgra has already launched ERPNext in Kenya and is planning an equivalent rollout in India.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Backlog Management
- Design and formalise business processes and Customer Journey Maps.
- Decompose business requirements into User Stories and acceptance criteria.
- Build and maintain a prioritised backlog of ERPNext features and improvements.
- Coordinate development work with the tech product team.
Implementation & Configuration
- Support the development of the existing Kenya implementation.
- Plan and execute the India rollout.
- Potentially expand the system as a tool for managing agronomic field operations.
- Manage key integrations with external systems.
Stakeholder Management
- Gather and structure requirements from supply chain, finance, operations, agronomy, and
leadership.
- Run UAT: scenarios, test cases, documentation, and sign-off.
- Train end users and develop training materials.
Technical Oversight
- Define roles and access permissions in collaboration with business and TechQualifications & Experience
Required 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst on ERP implementation projects Hands-on experience with ERPNext (Frappe ecosystem is a significant advantage) Strong understanding of core business processes: procurement, inventory, sales, CRM, project management, finance, and accounting Proven ability to write requirements, User Stories, and UAT scenarios Fluent English — written and spoken
Nice to Have
Knowledge of agribusiness or agricultural supply chains Experience working in Kenya or India; familiarity with local compliance requirements (KRA, GST, TDS) Familiarity with mobile payment integrations Experience with task management tools: Jira, Monday.com, Notion Core Competencies Mandatory: ERP product ownership from the side of Business and backlog management Business process design and requirements formation Stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration UAT design, execution, and documentation Fluent communication and user training Bonus Points: Knowledge of agribusiness supply chains and agronomic operations Familiarity with ERPNext / Frappe customization (Client Scripts, Server Scripts) Experience with local tax and compliance requirements in Kenya or India Mobile payment integration experience
