English (ESL / EAL) Teacher Vacancy Announcement (Part-Time)
The Language Club at the International Center for Ethno-Religious Mediation (ICERMediation) is currently seeking enthusiastic and qualified individuals to join our team as Part-Time English (ESL / EAL) Teachers. We have multiple openings for experienced English language instructors capable of teaching adult and young learners across various proficiency levels, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced. We welcome applications from instructors with experience in English as a Second Language (ESL) and English as an Additional Language (EAL), as well as from individuals currently enrolled in college- or university-level English language, TESOL, linguistics, or related programs. Teaching Modalities We offer multiple teaching modalities, depending on your availability:
- In-person instruction at our office in White Plains, New York
- Virtual instruction via Zoom or Google Meet
- Or a hybrid option combining both
For in-person classes, we will work with you to determine your availability and develop a class schedule that aligns with your commitments. For virtual classes, you will create your language course on the ICERMediation Language Course LMS, set your hourly rate, and publish the course. ICERMediation will list your course in our course marketplace, promote it to virtual learners, and notify you once students enroll.
Responsibilities
- Conduct engaging and effective English (ESL / EAL) lessons for adult and young learners, in person, virtually, or both
- Develop instructional curriculum materials tailored to learners at beginner, intermediate, and advanced proficiency levels
- Incorporate listening, speaking, reading, and writing in your lesson plan
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment
- Collaborate with the ICERMediation Language Club team to develop and enhance curriculum materials
- Provide regular feedback on student progress and maintain open communication with learners
Qualifications
- Certification in English instruction (e.g., TESOL, TEFL, CELTA) or current enrollment in a college- or university-level English language or related program
- Native or near-native proficiency in English; additional language proficiency is an asset
- Experience teaching ESL / EAL learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of multilingual learners
Candidates currently enrolled in a college-level English language or related program are encouraged to apply. Location In-person English (ESL / EAL) classes will be held in White Plains, New York. Applicants should be local or willing to commute. Virtual classes will be delivered via Zoom or Google Meet through the ICERMediation Language Course LMS. Schedule English (ESL / EAL) teachers determine their own availability; however, schedules must remain consistent throughout the academic term. For example, if you are available to teach Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons during the Fall term, your classes will be scheduled consistently during those time slots for the entire term. Teaching schedules and availability will be finalized during the interview process.
Compensation
This is an hourly paid position.
- Virtual instructors set their own hourly rate when creating courses on the ICERMediation Language Course LMS. Students pay the listed rate directly.
- Example: If you set your English (ESL / EAL) course at $20 per hour and 10 students enroll, your gross earnings will be $200 per hour. After a 20% ICERMediation hosting fee, your net earnings will be $160 per hour.
- In-person instructors will receive hourly compensation based on enrollment numbers. Rates will be mutually agreed upon prior to the start of each class.
