POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Compliance is a seasoned professional specializing in regulatory compliance, particularly in Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs. This role entails overseeing day-to-day compliance operations, managing multiple projects to ensure accurate submissions, reports, and audits are completed within deadlines. The Director assures that all procedures and documents follow federal and state regulations, regularly updating policies in response to legislative changes. They interpret and disseminate regulatory information, stating abreast of Federal and State rules and regulations pertinent to Tax Credit, HUD, HOME, and BOND programs. Additionally, the Director develops and updates compliance issues in proprietary manuals, modifies company forms and contracts, and conducts compliance training as necessary. They also handle salary administration and play an active role in hiring and recommending personnel within the Compliance department. Furthermore, the Director participates in committees, special projects and seeks additional responsibilities to contribute to the organization’s compliance objectives effectively. Ethical conduct, especially when handling sensitive or confidential information Ability to multitask and meet all required deadlines Familiarity with IRS/HUD rules and state specific rules and regulations that govern the Tax Credit Program Ability to navigate multiple software systems Strong oral and presentation skills ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Oversees multiple projects to ensure submissions, reports and audits are completed accurately and by required deadlines Ensures procedures and documents are accurate, current and in compliance with federal and state regulations Reviews and updates policies as laws change Interprets and disseminates information on regulatory matters Researches, understands and disseminates information on Federal rules and regulations for the Tax Credit/HUD/HOME/BOND programs Researches, understands and disseminates information on State agency rules and regulations for Tax Credit/HUD/HOME/BOND programs Develops and updates compliance issues in proprietary manuals, as needed Develops and modifies company forms and contracts used in business operations Creates and presents information on compliance updates and issues Assists with regulatory and compliance training Performs salary administration and conducts interviews and makes recommendations for new hires, consultants and/or replacement personnel within the Compliance department Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities Performs all other duties as assigned SPECIFIC EDUCATINO OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in business or a related field Ability to interpret regulations and laws and disseminate information 5 years Tax Credit/HUD/HOME/BOND program experience HCCP, COS or equivalent license preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Frequently sit, stand and walk. Regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Temperature in the workplace is typically moderate, though the ability to withstand seasonal cold and heat of the outdoors is necessary.
