DFM Engineer (Mechanical Engineering) – Remote
This is a remote position. DFM Engineer (Mechanical Engineering) – Remote Company: Trustbridge Engineering (a division of Vulcury LLC) Location: Remote (India-based candidates preferred) Experience: 7–10 years Employment Type: Contractual role Shift: Late-day India shift (afternoon start to overlap with U.S. working hours) About Trustbridge Engineering Trustbridge Engineering, a division of Vulcury LLC, provides design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and engineering solutions for global clients across industrial, consumer, automotive, aerospace, and medical sectors. Our team, led by an India-based senior engineer, works closely with U.S.-based clients to convert ideas into manufacturable, production-ready designs. We focus on real-world engineering — balancing performance, cost, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing constraints. This role is built for engineers who thrive on translating strong design fundamentals into production outcomes that actually work.
About the Role
We are looking for a mid-level DFM Engineer with 7–10 years of experience who can independently own design reviews, lead DFM analysis on active client projects, and engage confidently in client-facing technical discussions. You will work directly with the Head Engineer on live client projects and internal initiatives. This role goes beyond drafting — you'll drive manufacturability decisions, lead tolerance and process trade-off discussions, and produce documentation that goes straight to production.
Key Responsibilities
Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Lead and develop mechanical designs with a strong focus on manufacturability Apply DFM/DFA principles independently to improve part design, cost efficiency, and quality Own design refinements based on manufacturing constraints and client feedback Produce complete, production-ready engineering documentation Engineering Analysis & Validation Conduct simulations and engineering checks using ANSYS or similar tools Lead tolerance analysis, material selection, and design validation Identify design risks proactively and drive resolution Manufacturing & Process Expertise Apply working knowledge of manufacturing processes (CNC machining, sheet metal, casting, molding, etc.) to guide design and process decisions Define material, finish, and process specifications for production parts Evaluate supplier capabilities and factor manufacturing constraints into designs Collaboration & Communication Work closely with the Head Engineer and take independent ownership of client deliverables Lead or co-lead virtual meetings with U.S.-based clients and internal teams Communicate design intent, changes, and trade-offs clearly in a remote setup Contribute to improving internal engineering workflows and standards
Requirements
Who Should Apply Mandatory 7–10 years of experience in mechanical design with a strong DFM focus Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field Deep understanding of DFM/DFA principles and real-world production constraints Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, or similar) Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Good written and spoken English for professional client collaboration Preferred / Bonus Hands-on experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis Proficiency in ANSYS or other simulation tools Background across multiple industries (automotive, aerospace, medical, consumer, or industrial) Prior experience working with international or U.S.-based clients in a remote setup
Benefits
What You'll Gain High-ownership role with direct impact on live client projects Collaboration with international clients and cross-functional teams Broad exposure to DFM across industries and manufacturing domains A strong platform for senior engineering growth within a scaling firm
