Job Summary: The Learning Support Specialist is responsible for implementing approved updates in existing online courses within the learning management system. The role ensures that course content, links, activities, assessments, files, and supporting materials are accurate, accessible, properly formatted, and fully functional. Key Responsibilities: ● Apply approved content and configuration updates to existing courses within D2L Brightspace. ● Create, edit, format, and maintain course pages, modules, learning activities, assessments, discussions, and supporting resources. ● Implement revisions received from Learning Architects, Learning Designers, faculty, academic teams, and other authorized stakeholders. ● Update text, images, downloadable files, hyperlinks, instructions, references, and course support materials accurately. ● Verify that internal and external links are functional, current, relevant, and compliant with accessibility requirements. ● Ensure that all updates follow approved templates, naming conventions, content standards, and publishing procedures. ● Perform post-update quality checks covering navigation, formatting, links, files, activities, assessments, and content display. ● Check course content across relevant browsers, devices, and screen sizes where required by the quality process. ● Maintain accurate records and change logs for all updates completed within assigned courses. ● Track assigned requests and complete them within agreed service timelines and priority levels. ● Identify unclear, incomplete, or conflicting update instructions and coordinate with the appropriate stakeholder for resolution. ● Support course copying, version control, archiving, readiness checks, and release activities. ● Assist with accessibility remediation, including heading structure, alternative text, tables, hyperlinks, documents, and media-related requirements. ● Report technical issues, platform limitations, or complex defects to the relevant LMS, accessibility, or technical team. ● Address quality-review findings promptly and confirm that corrections have been implemented successfully. Required Skills and Competencies: ● Hands-on experience working in a learning management system; D2L Brightspace experience is strongly preferred. ● Strong attention to detail and the ability to complete repetitive updates without compromising accuracy or quality. ● Knowledge of online-course structures, including modules, assignments, discussions, quizzes, assessments, and learning resources. ● Basic HTML and digital content-formatting knowledge is desirable. ● Familiarity with WCAG and accessible digital-content practices. ● Ability to follow detailed instructions, templates, standard operating procedures, and quality checklists. ● Strong time-management, task-tracking, documentation, and issue-reporting skills. ● Effective written communication and the ability to collaborate with academic, design, production, and technical teams. Desired Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Computer Applications, Digital Media, or a related discipline. ● Two to four years of experience in LMS administration, course publishing, learning support, digital-content production, or a related function. ● Experience supporting higher-education or online-learning courses is preferred. ● Prior experience in course maintenance, content migration, accessibility remediation, or quality assurance is desirable.
