CAD Design Engineer (Part-time, Remote)

Join Advanced Systems Group as a CAD Design Engineer and help create best-in-class audiovisual (AV) and systems integration projects from anywhere in the U.S. This fully remote, part-time position offers flexible hours (2–32 hours per week) and the opportunity to work with industry leaders on innovative, highly technical projects. If you’re detail-driven, collaborative, and motivated, we want to hear from you! What You'll Do:
- Participate in virtual design and coordination meetings, supporting projects from concept through completion.
- Create and update highly accurate CAD drawings, including:
- System schematics
- Line and single-line diagrams
- Rack elevations
- Room layouts and routing plans
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and implementation teams to confirm project details and document:
- Building and room layouts
- Cable conveyance paths (conduit, tray, raised floor)
- Power requirements and infrastructure
- Plenum and non-plenum spaces
- Signal and transport formats (e.g., 3G, 12G, IP-based systems)
- Apply ASG’s drafting standards, cable color codes, labeling, and documentation best practices.
- Assist with creating and reviewing Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure documentation accuracy.
- Conduct quality reviews of designs to catch and correct discrepancies before installation.
- Produce installation-ready wire lists, cable pull sheets, and final design packages for multiple teams.
- Maintain red-line changes and incorporate field updates to ensure design accuracy.
- Support engineering and integration teams, providing solutions to design-related questions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all design documentation upholds ASG standards and industry best practices.
What You Bring: Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, Design, or a related technical field—or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 3 years producing CAD drawings for AV, low-voltage, or systems integration projects
- Mastery of AutoCAD
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and related documentation tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sharp attention to detail, strong time management, and the ability to thrive remotely
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of AV systems, signal flow, and structured cabling infrastructure
- Familiarity with construction and installation documentation standards
- Experience collaborating in fast-paced, fully remote teams
