Job Description
Clinical Ink is seeking a Backend Engineer to to join Clinical Ink's Disease Management team based in Denmark and the United States. In this role, you build well-scoped backend features across our Python services, with the tests and quality controls that prove they work. You’ll learn what it means to build in a regulated, safety-critical environment, lean on AI coding agents to move fast, and grow toward owning a domain of your own. The Backend Engineer's responsibilities include but are not limited to: Implement backend features in our Python stack: API endpoints, data models and migrations, and the glue between services. Write meaningful tests and make it (or its equivalent) pass — correctness is proven by the controls, not by hoping Contribute to integrations with wearables and clinical data sources under guidance Instrument what you build — add the metrics and logs that make your code observable — and learn our tooling (CloudWatch, Sentry) and how the platform runs in production Learn and respect the safety/privacy context — PHI handling, least privilege — as part of normal development Use AI coding agents effectively, and build the habit of verifying what they generate Communicate clearly in code, PRs, and updates
Qualifications
Solid programming fundamentals and some backend experience (Python a plus; we care more about strong fundamentals and learning speed) Comfort with APIs, databases/SQL, and version control; eagerness to learn good testing and design A real drive to build and ship, and curiosity to keep learning Openness to AI-augmented development with a healthy, verify-it mindset Exposure to FastAPI / SQLAlchemy / Postgres, AWS, or healthcare data (FHIR, wearables) preferred Any experience in regulated, safety-critical, or high-reliability software preferred Additional Information Clinical Ink is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against otherwise qualified applicants on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, age, sex, marital status, national origin, disability or handicap, or veteran status. www.clinicalink.com
