Account Executive - Clinical Education (Academia)
In a nutshell: Department: Customer Team Location: United States (remote) - travel required Type: Full-time Travel: Approximately 50%, including overnight stays The Opportunity Oxford Medical Simulation (OMS) is scaling across U.S. nursing schools, medical schools and academic health systems - and we're hiring a commercially driven Account Executive to own new business growth across this market. This is a quota-carrying, full-cycle SaaS sales role. You'll be working with a distinctive buyer: nursing faculty, simulation directors, program deans and academic leadership who care deeply about clinical education outcomes and invest carefully in the technology they bring into their institutions. Winning here requires genuine consultative skill, the ability to navigate complex institutional buying processes, and the ability to build real trust with clinically-minded people. You'll work alongside dedicated clinical educators and solutions colleagues - so you can focus on what you do best: building pipeline, advancing opportunities and closing. What you'll own New business quota: own and hit your number across a defined territory of nursing schools, medical schools, universities and academic health systems Pipeline: take ownership of an existing pipeline of qualified opportunities and build coverage through outbound prospecting, events, referrals and BDR support Territory strategy: develop and execute a plan for your market - knowing which institutions to prioritise, how to sequence them, and how to build OMS's presence where it isn't yet established Forecast accuracy: maintain a reliable pipeline and CRM hygiene in HubSpot Strategic account development: establish institutional partnerships that create long-term expansion opportunities across programmes, faculties and campuses What you’ll be doing Prospect and develop relationships with nursing schools, medical schools, academic health systems and simulation centres across your territory Lead consultative discovery to understand curriculum challenges, learner outcome goals and institutional priorities Build and present compelling business cases that connect educational outcomes with institutional goals and return on investment Manage multi-year agreement opportunities from first conversation through to signed contract, navigating faculty, simulation leadership, academic leadership, procurement and IT Demonstrate how OMS supports curriculum delivery, competency-based education, learner engagement and assessment - coordinating clinical education and solutions colleagues when needed Navigate university procurement, purchasing and contracting processes through to close Build strong, multi-threaded relationships across simulation directors, faculty, program leaders, deans and budget holders Represent OMS in the field - at academic conferences, simulation events and nursing/medical education meetings - this is a high field-presence role Partner with Marketing and BDRs to develop target account strategies and grow pipeline coverage Feed market intelligence and buyer insight back into the commercial team Who You Are Required 7+ years of quota-carrying SaaS, healthcare technology or clinical education technology sales experience Proven track record selling into nursing schools, medical schools, academic health systems or healthcare academia more broadly Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder consultative sales cycles - including multi-year agreements - from prospecting to close Experience building trust with mission-driven, clinically-oriented buyers - you understand that simulation directors and nursing faculty are not typical software buyers Strong new business instincts: comfortable with outbound, pipeline creation and managing long institutional buying cycles without losing momentum Excellent discovery, presentation and commercial negotiation skills Strong forecasting discipline and CRM management (HubSpot preferred) Comfortable with significant field travel - approximately 50% of your time, including overnight stays and conference attendance Preferred Experience selling clinical simulation technology, medical education technology or healthcare training platforms Familiarity with how nursing and medical school curricula are structured, and with accreditation frameworks such as ACEN or CCNE Exposure to university procurement, IT review and contracting processes Experience working alongside clinical educators or solutions engineers in a team-selling model You'll thrive here if you Love owning a number and building a plan to hit it - in a market that rewards relationship and trust over volume and velocity Are energised by selling something with genuine mission: better-trained nurses and clinicians means better patient outcomes Can hold your own in a conversation with a simulation director or nursing dean without pretending to be a clinician Are proactive, organised and relentless - academic procurement timelines are long, budget cycles are annual, and the best AEs in this market know how to keep momentum through both Want real autonomy and the chance to shape how OMS builds its presence in academic healthcare Want to work in a small, evolving organisation where change is plentiful About Oxford Medical Simulation OMS helps health systems, hospitals, medical and nursing schools deliver training and assessment better, cheaper, faster and at scale.
