3D Modeling & CAD Drawing Designer – Contractor Role Focus: 3D Models, Renderings, and Technical Drawings Company: Crave Design Co. Contract Type: 1099 Independent Contractor Location: Remote Reports To: Principal Designer Position Overview Crave Design Co. is seeking a talented and detail-oriented contractor to support our team with 3D modeling, renderings, and technical drawing documentation. This role is ideal for someone who can interpret creative concepts and space plans to develop realistic visuals and clean construction documents for hospitality and commercial interior design projects. You’ll work closely with the lead designer to translate design direction into digital models and drawings used in presentations, client approvals, and handoff packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 3D models based on approved space plans and design concepts
- Develop high-quality renderings to showcase materials, lighting, and overall ambiance
- Produce accurate technical drawings in AutoCAD or similar for floor plans, elevations, RCPs, and FF&E layouts
- Assist in updating drawings throughout the design process as revisions occur
- Organize files and upload completed work to the shared drive or client portal
- Coordinate regularly with the lead designer to align visual output with project goals
- Participate in weekly check-ins for feedback, revisions, and task alignment
Preferred Skills & Tools
- Proficiency in SketchUp, V-Ray or Enscape, and AutoCAD (or equivalent)
- Ability to produce clean and detailed technical drawings from scratch or from design sketches
- Strong understanding of interior materials, lighting, and spatial composition
- Organized, self-motivated, and responsive to feedback
Time Commitment
- Approx. 15–20 hours per week, depending on project timelines
- Flexible schedule with clear task deadlines
- Weekly check-ins via Zoom or Slack to review progress and assign new tasks
Pay Rate
- $25/hr
- Contractor will submit biweekly or monthly invoices with a task summary
- Contractor is responsible for their own taxes, software, and computer equipment
Contract Term This is an as-needed, at-will contractor position, with no guaranteed minimum hours. Typical workload is 15–20 hours per week, with potential for more during key project phases.
